Little cogs.
Big aha.

Everyday tech, cracked open by a tiny cog. One object, layer by layer, in about a minute.

What's inside your laptop?

Seven thin layers stacked into under 2 cm, doing three jobs: data, power and heat.

  1. 1Screen. Millions of pixels, each a red + green + blue light. The webcam and Wi-Fi antennas hide in the border.
  2. 2Keyboard. Each key rides a scissor switch; the rubber dome collapses and the membrane closes a circuit.
  3. 3Trackpad. A grid of capacitive sensors that feels where your finger is.
  4. 4Battery. The biggest part inside.
  5. 5Cooling. A copper heat pipe carries heat to a fan that blows it out the back.
  6. 6Motherboard. Processor, memory, storage and Wi-Fi on one board.
  7. 7Case. One aluminium plate and a few tiny screws.

MYTHCharging all night fries the battery.

REALLYIt can't overcharge: charging stops at full. Heat and sitting at 100% wear it out, so turn on the 80% limit if your laptop has one.
